Red spots on the penis: what they usually mean
Red spots on the penis are a common reason for worry. Many are caused by friction or irritation, but some need treatment.
In short: Red spots on the penis are often caused by friction, broken blood vessels after vigorous sex, irritation from soaps or condoms, balanitis or thrush. Less commonly they are caused by STIs such as herpes or syphilis, or skin conditions such as psoriasis. Mild spots that fade within a few days are usually harmless. Sores, blisters, discharge or spots that spread should be checked.
